Soulvage · Saint-Front-la-Rivière · Est. 2026
A private artist retreat and recording salon in a converted stone farmhouse in the Périgord — built for musicians who need quiet, time, and a room where acoustic instruments can breathe.
About
Soulvage is a private artist retreat and recording salon in Soulage, a small hamlet in the northern Dordogne: five houses, no street lights, no distant urban glow. At night, the silence is unusually deep. It is not an effect added later; it is part of the work.
The studio sits within an old stone farmhouse on a 5,500 m² property with mature trees, garden spaces, and room for visiting artists to step away from ordinary noise. The aim is not volume, but concentration: classical, jazz, chamber, vocal, experimental and intimate acoustic work.
Soulvage is not an open booking studio. It is closer to a private salon and retreat: curated, limited, and shaped around musicians who benefit from time, quiet, and serious listening.
The next step is to make the piano the heart of the room. A high-end European grand piano is being selected as the future central instrument — large enough for serious classical and jazz recording, intimate enough for the salon.
Final recordings can be prepared for release with mastering support from the experienced team at Sphere Studio, adding a professional finishing stage beyond the room itself.
The Space
Soulvage is in the main salon of a restored 18th-century farmhouse in the Périgord Vert. The original stone construction, cathedral-height ceiling, and rural isolation create a room intended for acoustic instruments, voice, and filmed performances.
A DMX lighting rig integrated into the original oak beam structure allows the salon to function as both a recording room and a visual performance space — suitable for live sessions, artist portraits, piano films and chamber projects.
The salon is large enough to breathe, but intimate enough to remain personal. The future grand piano is part of that direction: a piano-centered retreat rather than a conventional commercial studio.

For its first season, Soulvage is opening five selected session blocks in summer and fall 2026 to young musicians and small ensembles. The aim is simple: to give emerging artists time in a quiet recording salon, while gathering first impressions, recordings, and feedback as the space begins its life.
