Soulvage · Saint-Front-la-Rivière · Est. 2026
A private recording salon in a converted stone farmhouse, deep in the Périgord — one of the longest-lived regions in France, and one of its quietest. Step outside at night and you cannot see your hands or hear a single sound. That silence is what you record in.
About
One night I carried the rubbish from the house to the bins — fifty metres down the lane. Soulage is the name of the hamlet: five houses, no street lights, no distant glow. On a cloudy night you cannot see your hands in front of your face. You cannot hear a single sound — not traffic, not a neighbour, not the wind. I had never experienced that kind of dark, or that kind of silence, before. Soulvage is in the farmhouse at the centre of it.
The house sits on a 5,500 m² property with old trees and a wonderful old garden — the kind of place that has been growing quietly for a very long time. The deep Périgord is not rural the way a suburb is rural. It is genuinely remote, genuinely quiet — the kind of quiet that shows up in a recording.
Sessions at Soulvage are not booked through a platform or a calendar. We work with a small number of musicians — not chosen by profile or following, but by the music itself. If something here speaks to you, we would love to hear what you are working on.
The name says it: âme sauvage — wild soul. Come make something untamed.
Sessions
Soulvage opened in 2026. Faith was the first artist to record here.
The Space
Soulvage is in the main salon of a restored 18th-century farmhouse in the Périgord Vert. The original stone construction gives the room a natural warmth and a silence that is hard to find near a city.
A DMX lighting rig integrated into the original oak beam structure means the space works as a recording and production environment — for live sessions, performance films, and artist portraits.
The salon has cathedral ceilings — the original oak beams run the full height of the 18th-century farmhouse. It is a large room, but an intimate one. The kind of place where sound settles rather than scatters.
